BETHANY, W. Va. - The Frostburg State men’s tennis team downed Bethany, 8-1, Thursday afternoon for its second win of the season.
In No. 1 singles action, freshman Gregg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) defeated John McLane 6-1, 6-1. Junior Chris Schoenbauer (Riva, Md./South River) was victorious over Jason Brun in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
Senior Matt Quinn (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) won No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-3, over David Hayes and freshman Fabian Uribe (Elgin, Ill./Elgin) won No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1, over Rober Lowe. Junior Andrew Thomas (La Plata, Md./Thomas Stone) received a forfeit victory in No. 6 singles for FSU.
In doubles action, Shedd and Uribe defeated John and Joe McLane, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot. Tom Wetzel and Quinn won No. 2 doubles over Brun ad Hayes, 8-4, while Schoenbauer and Thomas earned a forfeit victory in No. 3 doubles.
FSU returns to action on this afternoon at Waynesburg at 3:00 pm.
