WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Tim Drakeley scored a game-high 19 points to lead Waynesburg to a 97-72 win over Frostburg State Tuesday evening at Marisa Fieldhouse.

FSU, which dropped its second-straight game and fell to 4-6 overall on the season, was led by junior Antione McCall (Essex, Md./Eastern Tech) with 15 points. Junior Keith Hazel (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) added 13 points including three baskets from beyond the arc. Senior Dale DeBerry (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) chipped in 11 scores and sophomore Makiha Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park) had 10.

WC won its fifth-consecutive contest and improved to 6-2. Marc Lodovico scored 17 points followed by Beau Wilson, Jared Gamble and Josh Parisi each with 11 points.

Despite shooting 47.8% (11-of-23) in the first half, FSU trailed at halftime, 48-31, thanks to a 19-of-32 effort (59.4%) from the field including five three-pointers from the Yellow Jackets.

DeBerry gave the Bobcats their final lead of the game, 7-6, with a three-pointer at 15:49 left in the opening period. Waynesburg used the next five minutes and a 13-2 run to open a 19-9 lead.

FSU battled back and narrowed the gap to 23-21 at the 5:00 mark, but the Yellow Jackets used a 25-10 spurt to close out the half.

In the second stanza, WC waisted little time opening a 25-point lead, 63-38, with 15:40 to play in the game. Frostburg State narrowed the deficit to 19, 72-53, at 11:15 but Waynesburg scored 11 out of the next 13 points for a 28-point advantage, 83-55 at 7:10.

The Yellow Jackets kept the pressure on the rest of the game and opened a game-high 29-point edge three different times, the last coming with just 49 seconds remaining (97-68), before going on for a 97-72 victory.

In the second, WC was 19-of-32 from the floor (59.4%) while FSU was 17-of-34 from the field (50.0%).

For the game, Waynesburg shot a season-best 59.4% from the field.

FSU returns to the court on Thursday, January 4 when it hosts Mary Washington at 7:30 pm.
