FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State lost to NCAA Division II Pitt-Johnstown, 3-1, Wednesday evening at Bobcat Arena.
FSU falls to 9-13 on the year while UPJ improves to 10-7.
Pitt-Johnstown won game one 30-26 but Frostburg State evened the match by capturing game two 31-29. The visitors won the third game, 30-21 and the fourth 30-23.
Freshmen Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) posted her 10th double-double of the season with 25 kills and 16 digs while classmate Chelsea Wassell (Westernport, Md./Southern Garrett) recorded 14 kills. Freshman Leslie Brown (Fort Washington, Md./Bishop McNamara) also had a fine outing with five kills and six blocks.
Senior Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) passed out 45 assists, her eighth 40-plus assist match of the season. She also added five kills and a pair of service aces.
Sophomore libero Jennifer Wheaton (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) led the Bobcats with 18 digs while freshman Samantha Quirin (Lovettsville, Va./Loudoun Valley) had 15.
FSU returns to action this Saturday for a trimatch at York with Rutgers-Newark.
