Women's Soccer Blanks Mt. Aloysius

FROSTBURG, MD — Sophomore Anita Wickerham (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) and senior Micaela Karinshak (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) netted two goals apiece to lead Frostburg State to a 10-0 victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mt. Aloysius in women’s soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats improve to 3-5-1 overall and 2-0 in the AMCC, while the Mounties fall to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Wickerham netted the first goal of the game off a feed from senior Jodi Gittleson (Rockville, Md./Wootton) 38 minutes into action. Five minutes later, Wickerham scored again off a corner kick to give FSU a 2-0 advantage at intermission. She was assisted by senior Beth Hlebasko (New Market, Md./Linganore) and sophomore Jen Naylor (Riva, Md./St. Mary's).

FSU blew the game open early in the second half, scoring four times in a span of just over six minutes. Junior Lindsay Hoffman (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson (ETSU)) started the rally with a goal in the 52nd minute, and Naylor found the net off a corner kick by Hlebasko in the 54th minute.

Freshman Jackie Donovan (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) made it a 5-0 contest when she scored at 57:19 off a feed from senior Shera Rowan (Frostburg, Md./Bishop Walsh), and junior Danielle Carter (Rockville, Md./Rockville) found the net just 30 seconds later to push FSU’s lead to 6-0.

Karinshak scored at 64:28 with an assist from freshman Tori Walter (Frederick., Md./Frederick), and Hlebasko found the net three minutes later. Karinshak then netted her second goal at 69:55. Freshman Ali Keeney (Smithsburg, Md./Middletown) capped the scoring at 76:44 on an unassisted goal.

Sophomore Molly Whyte (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) started the game and picked up her third win of the season after posting 60 scoreless minutes. Freshman Kala Barnes (Baltimore, Md./Southern) finished the final 30 minutes to complete the shutout.

Frostburg State returns to action Saturday, October 1 when it travels to AMCC rival Medaille at 1:00 pm.
