FROSTBURG, MD — Senior Nadya Yaghoubi netted the game’s only goal to give Carnegie Mellon a 1-0 victory over visiting Frostburg State in women’s soccer action Wednesday evening.
The Tartans (5-0-1) handed the Bobcats (1-5-1) their fourth consecutive shutout loss.
In the first half, CMU outshout FSU 12-2. In the 16th minute, Yaghoubi took a feed from junior Megan Hughes at the top of the box and volleyed it into the right side of the net past Bobcat goalie Molly Whyte (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge).
In the second half, both teams played pretty evenly as Carnegie Mellon held the shot advantage 5-4.
Whyte made ten saves in the loss.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday as they host Pitt-Bradford in the first Allegheny Moutain Collegiate Conference game of the season at 1:00 pm.
