Field Hockey Blanks Transylvania

LEXINGTON, KY — Frostburg State continues its win streak with a 4-0 victory over host Transylvania in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (4-0) first found the net when senior Tawni Buck (Perryville, Md./Perryville) knocked in a pass from classmate Heidi Zook (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) in the 22nd minute.

Less than five minutes later freshman Sarah Rutland (North Potomac, Md./Holy Cross) scored an unassisted goal to give FSU a 2-0 lead over the Pioneers (1-6) at the break.

In the second half, Frostburg State scored two more insurance goals when junior Talia Warsaw (Ashton, Md./Sherwood) netted a goal off a feed from Buck and in the 50th minute and sophomore Brittney Blystone (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) had an unassisted tally in the 52nd minute.

Senior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) made four saves to earn the win, while sophomore backup Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) made eight saves in the final 11:52.

Frostburg State returns to action Wednesday as it hosts Seton Hill at 4:00 pm.
