FROSTBURG, MD — Senior Megan Parris scored five goals to lead Virginia Wesleyan’s women’s lacrosse team to a 14-13 win over Frostburg State Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Field.
The game began with two goals from junior Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) at 26:35 and 26:23 to give FSU an early lead. Two minutes later, Ritz’s classmate Kelley Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) scored two consecutive goals to make the score 3-1.
The Bobcats lead by a 6-3 margin off a goal from senior Page Macey (Linthicum, Md./North County) at 15:11. The Marlins came back to score five goals to lead 8-6 at halftime.
After the break, sophomore Tina Trent (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) found the net at 25:36. The score was tied at 12 apiece when Macey banked a shot at 8:08. At 5:17, Parris scored to put Virginia ahead 13-12.
Freshman Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century) scored with 48 seconds left in the game to tie the game at 13-13. Parris scored her final goal with seven seconds left to play.
Duncan lead the Bobcats with four goals. Sophomore goalie Rachael Lewis (Laurel, Md./Wilde Lake) had 17 saves in the loss.
The Bobcats return to action as they travel to the College of Notre Dame (Md.) Wednesday at 4:30 pm.
