Men's Soccer Nips Pitt-Greensburg For Fourth Win in Last Five Games

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Senior Matt Moffa (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) scored the lone goal of the game in the 81st minute to give Frostburg State a 1-0 win over host Pitt-Greensburg in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match Tuesday afternoon.

Frostburg State improved to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in the AMCC with their fourth win in five games. All five victories this season have came via shutout. Pitt-Greensburg fell to 0-10-1 and 0-4 in the AMCC.

Moffa found the net off a scamble in the box for his team-leading 10th goal of the year. He has already matched his total of 10 goals in 19 games last season.

Senior Derek Richardson (New Windsor, Md./Linganore) made two saves for his second shutout of the year and is now 2-4 this season.

“I’m glad to get a conference win on the road,” said Head Coach Keith Byrnes. “We’ve always struggled at their place, but our guys played hard. We’re looking for some good things at home this weekend.”

The Bobcats return to action Saturday when they host Hilbert in an AMCC contest beginning at 3 pm.
