PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Frostburg State volleyball team downed Lake Erie 3-1 in its final regular-season match Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 30-14, 26-30, 30-21 and 30-13.
The Bobcats, who have won 10 out of their last 11 matches, improved to 16-15 overall and 7-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference while Lake Erie fell to 8-22 overall and 3-5 in league play.
Senior Carly McDonald (Owings, Md./Northern) posted her 14th double-double of the season with 21 kills and 14 digs. Freshman Katie Plume (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) also had a solid afternoon with seven kills and nine digs.
Freshmen Caryn Wright (Pikesville, Md./Western Tech) recorded 15 kills and two blocks while classmate Meg McDearmon (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) smashed 12 kills. Freshman Jenny Wheaton (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) led the team with three service aces while adding nine digs as well.
Junior Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) dished out 54 assists, her third 50-assist effort of the season.
FSU returns to action on Tuesday, November 1 when they host a quarterfinal match of the AMCC Tournament against a team to be announced later.
