STEVENSON, MD — Sophomore
Jen Naylor (Riva, Md./St. Mary's) scored a goal and added an assist to lift the Frostburg State women’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory over host Villa Julie to close out its regular season Thursday afternoon.
This win marks the 50th for Head Coach Brian Parker and the seniors on the team.
Junior Danielle Carter (Rockville, Md./Rockville) opened the game with an unassisted goal in the 11th minute. In the 40th minute, Naylor found the net to put the Bobcats (10-5-2, 8-0-1 AMCC) ahead 2-0 at the break.
In the second half, senior Jodie Gittleson (Rockville, Md./Wootton) capped the scoring off a feed from Naylor in the 59th minute.
Stephanie Gutowski netted the only goal for the Mustangs (8-10) with 10 minutes left to play.
Sophomore Molly Whyte (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) played the first 81:21 minutes, allowing the goal and earned two saves, while freshman Kala Barnes (Baltimore, Md./Southern) played the remaining 8:39 in the win. Villa Julie keeper Kim Winslow made 11 saves in the loss.
Frostburg State returns to action Wednesday as it hosts the Semifinal Round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament against the winner of the Lake Erie and La Roche game beginning at 2:00 pm.
