GREENSBURG, Pa. — The Frostburg State women’s volleyball team swept host Pitt-Greensburg 30-24, 30-20 and 30-26 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Wednesday night.
Frostburg State won for the ninth time in its last 10 matches to even its overall record at 15-15 and improve to 6-2 in the AMCC.
Pitt-Greensburg fell to 8-22 overall and 3-5 in the league.
FSU assured itself of either the No. 3 or 4 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal match Tuesday night at Bobcat Arena starting at 7 pm.
FSU’s opponent will be determined following the completion of AMCC regular-season play this Saturday.
Junior Amanda Frantz (Friendsville, Md./Northern Garrett (Garrett College)) led FSU with 15 kills. Senior Carly McDonald (Owings, Md./Northern) added eight digs, seven kills and two service aces, while freshman Caryn Wright (Pikesville, Md./Western Tech) had six kills and 2.5 blocks.
Junior Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) had another stong all-around effort, recording 32 assists, seven kills and 2.5 blocks.
Frostburg State closes out its regular-season schedule this Saturday when it visits Lake Erie (8-21, 4-4 AMCC) for a 1 pm match.
