Women's Soccer Blows Out Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, PA — Junior Jodie Gittleson (Rockville, Md./Wootton) recorded her first career hat trick and senior Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast) added two goals and two assists to power Frostburg State to a 9-0 win over Mount Aloysius in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women’s soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats improved to 5-1-2 overall and 2-0 in the AMCC, while the Lady Mounties fell to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Sophomore Danielle Carter (Rockville, Md./Rockville) began the scoring with the first of her two goals on the day off an assist from Kotofski. Kotofski then converted a pass from junior Beth Hlebasko (New Market, Md./Linganore) to give the Bobcats a 2-0 advantatge.

Frostburg State increased its lead to 3-0 when Gittleson found the net off an assist from Carter, and Hlebasko fed Kotofski for another goal to make it 4-0.

Gittleson closed out the first-half scoring with an unassisted goal to give the Bobcats a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime.

Carter got into the scoring act againscoring unassisted to open the second stanza, and senior Aimee Sprague (Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) made it a 7-0 contest with help from Kotofski’s career-best ninth assist of the year.

Gittleson and fellow junior Micaela Karinshak (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) added unassisted tallies to close out the scoring.

Senior Kelly Jones (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) made one save in the first half, while sophomore Meredith Remus (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) played a scoreless second half.

The Bobcats, who have outscored their last two opponents by a combined 20-0, return to action Saturday when they host Medaille in another AMCC contest beginning at 1:00 pm.
