St. Mary’s City, MD— Freshman Amy Skrickus scored the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute as St. Mary’s College defeated Frostburg State 3-2 in field hockey action Sunday afternoon.
Senior Tawni Buck (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) scored the game’s first goal on a penalty stroke in the eighth minute to give the Bobcats a 1-0 halftime lead.
The Seahawks (3-5) tied the game as senior Sarah Sloane scored off an assist from junior Sarah Edwards in the 44th minute.
Less than four minutes later, FSU (1-7) regained the lead with a goal from junior Kim Smith (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson), who deflected a pass from freshman Brittney Blystone (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin).
St. Mary’s came back again to tie the score 2-2 as Sloane found the net in the 60th minute, assisted by sophomore Kaitlin Anderson.
Sloane fed Skrickus the game-winning goal less than two minutes later.
Bobcat junior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) had a game-high four saves.
FSU is back in action Wednesday as it travels to Seton Hill for a 4:00 pm game.
