FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State women’s tennis team was swept by Bethany (W. Va.), 9-0, in its home opener on Friday afternoon.
Senior Aimee Mendoza (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) was the only Bobcat to win a set as she lost at No. 3 singles to August Gardner 6-0, 4-6, 6-0.
Mendoza and fellow senior Charlena Reeves (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) also came close at No. 2 doubles where they lost a narrow 8-6 match to Lindsey Caprese and Erica Smith.
Frostburg State (0-8) returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Penn State Behrend in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match at 10:00 a.m.
