Football … Four letters in four years. One of the most dominating players in F.S.C. history. A running back who, at 5’10”, 225 pounds, ran 40 yards in 4.6 speed and often took control of the game in the closing minutes.
Rich holds the following Frostburg State career records: most yards – 3,163; most attempts – 715; most touchdowns – 32; and most points scored – 208. For a season, he holds these rushing records: most yards – 1,276 (1981); most attempts – 280 (1982); most touchdowns – 13 (1981); and points scored – 80 (1981). He also holds the single game records for yards gained rushing with 270 and attempts with 45, both vs. Duquesne in 1981.

Rich signed with the Cleveland Browns following graduation.
At the time of his induction, Rich was the starting fullback and middle linebacker for the Denver Dynamite of the professional Arena Football League.
