Football … Four letters in four years. He is considered by many observers to be the most outstanding offensive guard in Frostburg State’s history. His great speed at 215 pounds permitted him to pull out and lead interference with great authority.
John started as a freshman and was team co-captain in 1971, his senior year. His quickness and intelligence made him an offensive force for all four years. Coach Crawley referred to John as a winner in all endeavors, off as well as on the field.
In 1970, he was a member of the Frostburg State team which was nationally ranked and finished the season with a 7-1 record.
He was mentioned on the All-Maryland-Collegiate team twice, in 1970 and 1971. In 1971, he was name the Frostburg Jaycee’s Lineman of the Year.
