Basebal l… One of F.S.U.’s all-time pitching workhorses, John pitched in 46 games (2nd on the Bobcat career list) and in 196 innings (3rd). He compiled a career record of 16-8 and a 3.21 E.R.A. (3rd).
His other career rankings include 28 starts (5th) and 12 complete games (6th). He is among the top nine in relief appearances (18), strikeouts (120), and fewest bases-on-balls allowed per innings pitched (3.4 per 9 innings).
Although he was very consistent from year to year, 1970 stands out as his probably best: 14 games, 10 starts, 5 complete games, 73½ innings, won 5, lost 4 and a 2.70 ERA.
He led the team in games pitched in 1969 (14), in starts in 1970 (10), incomplete games in 1968 and 1970 (5), in fewest walks allowed/innings pitched in 1969 (24) and 1971 (12), and in wins in 1969 (5).
