Basketball … One of the all-time top outside shooters and scorers in Frostburg State basketball history. He scored 1025 points in his four-year career, a figure which ranked him tenth on the all-time F.S.U. career scoring list at the time of his induction.
His 369 points scored and 142 field goals in the 1956-57 season led the team. Jim scored 226 points as a freshman, 99 in an injury-filled sophomore year, 369 as a junior, and 331 as a senior. These figures are particularly remarkable considering the 18-20 game schedules of the time. Frostburg has team records in Jim’s seasons of 15-5, 9-9, 15-5, and 15-4, for a total of 54 wins and 23 losses.
Considered by his coaches to be the finest long-range scorer in their experiences, he would be a devastating 3-point shooter in present-day basketball.
Four letters in four seasons.
