Jean Goldsborough, an Owings Mills, Md., native, was a standout for both the Frostburg State field hockey and lacrosse teams from 1978-1982.

A three-year letterwinner as a goalkeeper in field hockey, she helped the Bobcats win Maryland state championships in both her junior and senior years as well as earn the program’s first berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament as a senior (only eight teams were selected to the NCAA Tournament in 1981). Goldsborough made eight saves in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Westfield in the first round.

In lacrosse, Goldsborough earned four letters and sparkled at the offensive end of the field. She had 29 goals and 13 assists as a junior, and she scored 42 goals and had 25 assists as a senior to earn team MVP and Maryland All-College honors.

Goldsborough went on to coach both field hockey (1987-1990) and lacrosse (1988-1992) at Goucher College.
