Soccer … All-American fullback, 1954. One of 3 FSC soccer players to achieve such recognition in the 1950’s. Although A fullback, he scored 2 goals in his career, both penalties. A very versatile player, Bud could kick with either foot, was quick for his size and was a very aggressive competitor. One of his traits earning him All-American status was his steadiness. He rarely missed a game in 4 years and always played up to his potential. All-Southern Conference all four years.

Baseball … A very strong player with a good arm and the ability to hit the long ball. As a right fielder in his freshman year, he battled .241, scored 3 runs, walked 3 times and struck-out 4 times. Batting averages - sophomore -.341; junior - .312; and senior-.300.
