Track … NAIA All-American five times, three times indoor and twice outdoors. American record holder in the 5-kilometer race-walk with a time of 3:59:34, a record set at the 1980 U.S. Olympic trials in Buffalo. A member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team in this event. At the time of induction, his record still stands. The first American to complete the 50-kilometer in under 4 minutes. Has represented the United States in international competition in Mexico and several European countries. Scored more career points in NAIA national competition than any other FSC athlete.
Achieved his 5 All-American ratings with these performances in the NAIA Championship Meets:
1976 – Indoors – finished second in the 2-mile walk with a time of 14:49:9.
1977 – Indoors – finished third in the 2-mile walk with a time of 14:22:7. Outdoors – finsihed secnd in the 10,000 meter walk with a time of 46:21:9.
1978 – Indoors – National Champion in 2-mile walk with a FSC record time of 13:53:62. Outdoors – finshed third in the 10,000 meter walk with a time of 47:35:59
Qualified for the 1976 outdoor championship in the 10,000 meter walk, but did not place.
Cross Country … Three years varsity and one year J.V.
Letters … Track – three in three years, Cross Country – two in four years.
