Football … 1968, 1970-1973- First FSC athlete to play professional athletics in the big leagues. 7th round Cincinnati Bengals draftee in 1973, Bob was defensive tackle and an end for the NFL Bengal’s and Kansas City Chiefs (1973 through 1977). Scored a touchdown for Cincinnati by blocking a punt and running it in. A freshman offensive end at FSC, he then became a 3 time All-Maryland and 2 time All-NAIA District 18 defensive lineman. The 6’6”, 250 pounded was named bobcats’ top defensive player in the 1970, MVP in 1971 and received little All-American mention in 1971. Before the Bengal’s, the San Francisco 49ers drafted him illegally in the 15th round in 1972.
Basketball … 1970-73- Twice named the bobcats MVP, ‘71-’72 and ‘72-’73. Scored a total of 850 points in his career, with individual seasons of 294, 320, 236. A center with a field goal shooting percentage of 60.7 and foul shooting 60.6 for his career. Rebounding was his forte, however. He amassed a total of 625 rebounds in 3 of 4 years of playing.
Track … Competed in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Formally held FSC record of 44 ft. in the triple jump. First place award at Fairmont invitational track meet with 21’9 ½” long jump and at the Ohio State Relays placed in Decathlon. As a decathlon performer, Bob proved to be one of Frostburg’s finest athletes.
