Football … An outstanding offensive tackle; recognized by many as perhaps the best in F.S.U. history to date. At 6-3, 255 pounds, Bill was considered by both his coaches to be both a devastating drive blocker and an excellent pass blocker for some of Frostburg’s best offensive teams. In 1981 he was graded by his coaches at over 90% for the entire season. He did not permit a single quarterback sack by his man that year. Bill was a team leader on and off the field.

All-Maryland Collegiate first team in 1980 and 1981. ECAC honor roll in 1981. Named the “Offensive Player of the Game” an award usually reserved for backs and receivers – for his performance vs. Salisbury State in 1981.

Scouted and contacted by the N.Y. Giants, Baltimore Colts, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Seattle Seahawks, he received a free-agent a free-agent contract with Seattle. Three letters in three seasons.

Track … Bill held the F.S.U. discus record for a time – 162’8”, established in the 1982 Davidson Relays. He was the Mason-Dixon Conference discus champion and placed 9th in the NCAA Division II National Championships in 1982. Two letters in two seasons.
