Swimming … Four letters in four years. F.S.U. Most Valuable Swimmer, 1982-83 and 1983-84. Most Outstanding Swimmer, 1983-84, 1984-85, and 1985-86. NCAA III National qualifier in 1983, 1985, and 1986.

At the time of induction, holder of 4 F.S.U. all-time records: 50-yd. Freestyle (21.62), setting the record 5 times. 100-yd. Freestyle (47.07), setting the record 6 times. 200-yd Freestyle (1:45.71), setting the record 4 times. 100-yd. Butterfly (55.38), setting the record 3 times. He once held the F.S.U. 500-yd. Freestyle record as well, a record he set 4 times.

In addition, Bill was a member of the F.S.U. record-holding relay teams in all 3 men’s team events: the 400-yd. Free and Medley Relays and the 800-yd. Free relay.
Bill’s performance in the annual Tri-State Championship Meets included his placing in all 12 events in which he was entered, competing in 3 events in each of his 4 seasons, he won 8 first places, one second place and 3 thirds. He won the 100-yd. Freestyle race all 4 years and holds the Tri-State record for that event with a time of 47.07.

His Tri-State achievements:
1983 – 1st in the 50- and 100-yd. Freestyles; 3rd place in the 200-yd. Freestyle.
1984 – 1st in the 100- and 200-yd. Freestyles; 3rd place in the 500-yd. Freestyle.
1985 – 1st in the 50- and 100-yd. Freestyles; 1st in the 100-yd. Butterfly.
1986 – 1st in the 100-yd. Freestyle; 2nd in the 100-yd. Butterfly; 3rd in the 50-yd. Freestyle

Regarded as the best male swimmer in F.S.U. history at the time of his induction.
