Note From Coach

Thank you for inquiring about the Frostburg State University women's basketball program.

Frostburg State University supports its athletic programs and strives to recruit quality student-athletes. Not mentioned on this site is the fact that the women’s basketball team holds a very respectable winning percentage. Our schedule consists of competitions from schools in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Virginia and West Virginia. The season begins in November with an opening tournament and continues to the middle of March with a post-season tournament.

Over the past several years, we have made great strides to become a contender not only in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference but overall in Division III basketball. As we start the 2007-2008 season, the goals of the Frostburg State basketball program are quite simple. First, we want to dominate and win the AMCC. Second, we want to receive a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. And third, we want to bring home a Division III National Championship.

In order for us to reach our goals, we need dedicated student-athletes who are committed to excellence. We want young women in our basketball program who want to be good citizens, good students and the best basketball players they can be. We want you to not only excel on the court but in the classroom. We are very proud of the fact that several players receive academic awards as well as athletic awards.

Please be aware that we compete at the NCAA Division III level, and therefore we do not offer athletic scholarships. We do have financial aid assistance available based on need. There are also academic scholarship opportunities available for those applicants who qualify. Our financial aid office will assist you in determining future costs and what aid is available to you.

A visit to our campus will illustrate the many attributes our small college atmosphere has to offer. Frostburg State University, a multi-purpose, largely residential regional University founded in 1898, is the University of Maryland system’s only four-year institution west of the Baltimore/Washington, DC metropolitan area. Frostburg State University provides quality education within a close-knit community, personalized instruction with academic, athletics and cultural programs that rival much larger, more expensive institutions.

If you are an interested applicant and would like to receive more information about our basketball program, please complete the player questionnaire. If you have any further questions, email me at jpepple@frostburg.edu or call 301-687-4466.

Yours in Basketball,
