FROSTBURG, Md. - Billy Jackson has been promoted to associate head coach for the Frostburg State University football program announced recently by head coach Tom Rogish.
Jackson finished his sixth season as an assistant coach for FSU in 2009, including the last four as offensive coordinator. With the promotion to associate head coach, Jackson will take on more administrative duties affiliated with the overall football program along with coaching the quarterbacks and running backs. He will organize the team's budget and travel expenses, monitor academics and help with the preparation and purchasing of the team's equipment.
"I'm excited in this new role in the program", said Jackson. "I'm looking forward to the new opportunity that has been presented to me."
The Bobcat offense has steadily improved each season over the four years Jackson served as the team's offensive coordinator. In 2009, Frostburg State averaged 281.4 yards and 19.7 points per game and finished third in the Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) in touchdowns (24).
Jackson, who earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Frostburg State University, played quarterback for the Bobcat football team from 1996-2000. He appeared in 28 games, throwing for 937 yards and seven touchdowns.
