ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon had four players in double figures as it handed Frostburg State its fourth-straight loss with an 86-41 setback in the 2008 RMC Coaches Classic, Monday night.

Jordan Brown and Danny Jones each scored a game-high 13 points to lead a Yellow Jacket (6-3) offense that shot 50.8 percent (30-of-59) from the field and held a 42-30 edge in rebounding. Brandon Braxton added 11 points while Justin Short chipped in 10 to round out the game’s top four scorers.

Keith Hazel (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) led Frostburg State (3-6) with nine points followed by junior
Makiha Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park) and sophomore
Steven Ogg (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) with six each. The RMC defense held FSU to just 32.8 percent (19-of-58) shooting from the field including a 3-of-14 effort (21.4%) from beyond the arc. FSU was also held without a made free-throw, 0-for-4, for the first time all season.
The Bobcats never led and tied the contest just once (2-2) on the evening when Ogg hit a jumper just under a minute into action.
From there, Randolph-Macon controlled the rest of the game opening a 10-point lead (17-7) at 10:24 and holding an opening half high lead of 25 points on several occasions late in the period. Braxton accented the stellar first half for RMC with a dunk that gave the hosts a 42-18 lead at intermission.
The Yellow Jackets carried the momentum into the second half as they opened up a 31-point lead (54-23) just three minutes in. With 1:54 left in the half, RMC took its largest lead of the contest, 82-35, before finishing off the Bobcats 86-41.
Frostburg State returns to action tomorrow when it plays in the consolation game of the classic at 6:00 pm. The Bobcats await the loser of the Lebanon Valley/Ursinus contest.
